Alex Jackson. Acrylic on canvas. NOT FOR SALE.
I was born in Huyton,Liverpool in 1963 and
I guess I've been drawing and painting as far back as I can remember..though after doing an 'A'level in Art,I
abandoned that side of my life for some considerable time, spending my days travelling and busking to make ends meet! In 1996 I met Sarah and my world changed forever!! We even opened an Art Gallery together and with her
backing and support I became a full-time artist in December 2009. I've managed to build up a large port-folio
of work and sell and complete commissions on a regular basis. I am basically self-taught and mainly paint from memories
and experiences, both recent and from the past and often use a combination of brushes and sponges on quality canvas. At present
I paint in Acrylics. There are many memories from childhood. Falling off my bike, being pushed face-first onto
our back step, scaring the old ladies in my Frankenstein outfit, looking through the banisters at the adults drinking and, painting
and drawing at the kitchen table.Maybe those experiences influenced my life more than I realised. I always dreamed of being
'an artist'. Living in a garret in Paris. Drinking red wine and lounging round in cafes at night. Pretentious,yes...but,I
was only 13 at the time. Living as an artist involves alot more hard work and I guess I'm no longer a dreamer! Reality
suits me fine. It just took a hell of a long time to find out!!

This is our rabbit Freddy (he was a bit cold!!!!). My companion when I'm painting and my greatest critic ! I can
tell what he thinks of a picture in progress by his toilet habits !! "A pile of c##p" is often the order of the
day but, I don't take it personally and if I tempt him with a carrot he often changes his opinion. Good, old Fred.
